This was one of the first tracks I wrote after leaving reality tv show, The Voice. At the time I thought it was about our addiction to poor diet and over the counter medications but as time goes on I realise it is about much more for me, which I leave open to each listeners. What does it mean to you?
lyrics
Why have we fallen, asleep at the wheel?
Let them come in and tell us what is real.
We’re drowned by apathy, and drained of our youth.
While driving through darkness, seeking the truth.
Why can’t we see, we’re in too deep?
God, please wake us from this sleep.
The worlds slowly dying, from a sickness we can cure.
But we’re so entertained, blinded and unsure.
Before we are lead down the path of our demise.
We must fight for freedom, truth is our prize.
Why can’t we see, we’re in too deep?
God, please wake us from this sleep.
Why do I feel like a passenger?
Lead by whats popular.
How do I take back the wheel? (Not bound by fear, war cry we hear)
And drive toward what is re-al... (Not bound by fear, war cry we hear)
Why can’t we see, we’re in too deep?
God, please wake us from this, oh
Why can’t we see, we’re in too deep?
God, please wake us from this sleep.
